There are many times when we find our lives become unmanageable and we lose ourselves trudging a path which no longer fulfills us or we find ourselves at a crossroad unsure which direction to take. This is where I believe I can help you navigate a new or next part of your journey.
About me and my practice
In 2014, having attained a Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, I set up my own practice, InnerSense Therapeutic Counselling based in Bury, bordering Lancashire & Greater Manchester. I am also a qualified Solicitor and had spent 36+years in the Magistrates Courts Service before taking early retirement in 2017.
Following retirement, I further undertook training to qualify as a Counselling Supervisor.
Today, I find there is no greater joy in my life but seeing both Clients and Supervisees, empowered through our sessions, reaching their full potential and especially with Clients, having explored their difficulties with me, helping them to create their own design for living and begin a new journey thereon in.
I am passionate in my way of working with others and simply adore, seeing those who seek my Counsel or Supervision, introduce change and begin to enjoy achieving their full potential.
During COVID19, I moved from face to face sessions to video call sessions, using WhatsApp, which is totally safe & confidential being end to end encrypted. Although at first I was sceptical about what impact that mode of therapy delivery might impact on the therapeutic relationship between us, however I was blown away, finding that I could still work with clients at a deep relational level, inspire of a 'screen' between us. Now, I work almost exclusively via video call sessions, save for some local home visits, where such clients specifically desired face to face sessions.
With video call sessions, you not only experience therapy from your own safe space but benefit from no travelling. I operate a very flexible diary, which allows clients more flexibility with booking appointments.
I also consider concessionary discount to fees for those clients in receipt of benefits, on a low income & such other individual circumstances that I believe ought to be taken into account, as in my opinion, all who believe that they would benefit from therapy deserves to have such to move forward.
Experience
Having qualified as a Person Centered Talking Therapist in 2014, I set up my own Practice,
InnerSense Therapeutic Counselling, in Bury.
Prior to the COVID19 pandemic, I saw clients in my Counselling Room at home and also made local home visits.
The pandemic forced me to adapt my working practice, moving to video call sessions using WhatsApp, which is secure and confidential. Initially, I was sceptical as to how I'd be able to create the therapeutic relationship with clients, which I believe is crucial to allow the client and I to work together at a deeper relational level. I was amazed, having found that there was no impact working towards that deeper level with clients and listening to feedback, heard how convenient Clients found this mode of working. Clients liked the flexibility around sessions taking place in their own safe place, with the added benefit of not having to travel.
After COVID, I moved almost exclusively to video call sessions alongside local home visits and I've found this is an ideal way of working for both myself and clients.
I am also a qualified Counselling Supervisor and use video call for Supervision sessions with Supervisees, again the flexibility and no travel sitting well with them too.

Initial Consultation
The initial telephone consultation, is around 20 mins and free. This allows me to find out the initial issues which are troubling the
Client and brings them to seek therapy. If the Client is content, we then generally fix the first of usually 6 sessions. At the 6th session we review the progress made, at which stage the Client can either extend our sessions of end therapy. I always reassure Clients on ending, that should they require further sessions at a later stage, they would be more than welcome to re-engage by contacting me by text or phone call.
Fees
Generally the feeling is £45 per 60 mins session, although I do operate a discretionary discounted rate, depending on the individual circumstances of any Client.
When I Work
I work Monday to Friday from 11.00am with the last session at 5.30pm.
I am very flexible, and weekend appointments are not out of the question if that's the only available option for the Client.
